Prior to releasing funds, it is not uncommon for insurance companies and banks to verify the seaworthiness of a boat and therefore the level of risk. The way this is achieved is by a marine survey. The survey is usually shorter than a full condition survey and focuses primarily on structural integrity and seaworthiness, however it is recommended that the exact survey specification is sought from the insurance company prior to survey as they all have their own requirements.
Many owners view this requirement as a burden, however it needn't be. Instead, why not use it as an opportunity to get to know your boat better and ultimately enhance your safety and enjoyment on the water!
Marine valuations form an important part of an insurance survey and are included as standard.
Zenith Maritime are based in Padstow, Cornwall and as such as well placed to carry out insurance surveys across Cornwall and Devon.
